Savor Seoul

Visit some of the greatest public markets in Seoul and get a hands-on introduction to local cuisine.

About Your Trip

Anchoring a metropolitan area better than 25 million strong, Seoul is South Korea’s mighty capital: a 2,000-plus-year-old metropolis on the great Han River. Edged by rugged mountains, the city contains a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Changdeokgung Palace and several of the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty. Besides the many centuries of rich history, Seoul offers a supremely energetic modern-day flavor—thrumming street markets, nonstop nightlife and one of the world’s finest subway systems to shuttle visitors around.

Get an unparalleled sense for everyday life and culinary traditions in Seoul with this unique itinerary. Your activities include visits to two of the South Korean capital’s most venerable food markets: the Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market (established in the 1920s), with its hundreds of seafood vendors, and the grand Gwangjang Market, a beloved institution of the city since 1905 and one of the best places to survey traditional South Korean foods like bindaetteok and mayak kimbap. You’ll also be able to memorably expand your appreciation of the sophisticated Seoul kitchen with a class on Korean cookery.
