Journey to Jeju’s Wonderland

Marvel at the scenery, traditions and hot springs of South Korea’s Jeju island during 4 days of exploration and adventure.

About Your Trip

Explore the many natural and cultural bounties of Jeju, South Korea, including the ever-popular Hallim Park. This tropical wonderland is a collection of 9 separate theme parks spread over approximately 80 acres (32 hectares) of lush forest. Take photos of vibrant flowers and blooming trees, learn the customs of nearby folk villages and stroll shaded paths surrounded by indigenous wildlife. After lunch, witness professional horsemen perform a spectacular horse-riding show at The Ma Park, a popular equestrian park. At Sanbangsan Mountain Tansan Hot Springs, indulge in a rare, carbon hot spring — a natural, thermal fountain believed to offer numerous health benefits.

Make sure you have your camera the next day for sightseeing stops at 4 frequently photographed landmarks famous for their outstanding natural beauty. See the 72-feet-high (22-meter-high) Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, the majestic Oedolgae Rock, the ocean-facing Yakcheonsa Temple and the rugged cliffs of Jusangjeollidae.

What we love:
• Mt. Sanbangsan, a volcanic lava mountain off Yongmeori Beach, resembles a dragon’s head as it stretches into the ocean.
• The revered Buddhist temple of Yakcheonsa features a large hall with a Buddha statue. Built in 1990, it is reminiscent of temples during the early Joseon dynasty.
• According to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall legend, 7 fairies once came down from the King of Heaven’s realm on a stairway made of clouds to bathe in the cool, clear waters.

Destination

One of South Korea’s most popular subtropical getaways, Jeju — the country’s biggest island — is renowned for its volcanic landscapes and its serene seashore. In fact, its volcanic lava tubes are a portion of a scenic UNESCO World Heritage site. The island’s primary volcano, Hallasan, is the highest mountain in South Korea, standing 6,398 feet (1,950 meters). The island is also well-known for its haenyeo, or “sea women,” who carry on the ancient tradition of shellfish diving with incredible prowess.

The temperate climate in Jeju is similar to that of the Hawaiian Islands, making it a popular destination for getaways and honeymoons. Visitors enjoy a variety of attractions, including historical areas, temples, beaches, gardens and amusement parks.
