Get ready for adventure in Western Australia as you traverse desert, city and seaside landscapes on this expertly guided DreamTrip
for guests ages 3 years and older. Starting in Perth, head northward to the Coral Coast where you’ll view thousands of limestone, pillar-like structures known as the pinnacles at Nambung National Park. After lunch at the popular Lobster Shack, travel to Lancelin Sand Dunes for sandboarding, if you desire.
The next day, take a class on coffee before heading to Kings Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world covering 990 acres (400 hectares). Continue to Elizabeth Quay, a new recreational development along Perth’s riverfront. Then, attend another class — this time on cooking — before visiting Cottesloe Beach. Spend some time walking along the beach and taking in ocean views. At the historic port city of Fremantle, you’ll stop at the Round House — the oldest public building in Western Australia. Before the day is over, visit the legendary Cappuccino Strip, home to trendy cafes, pubs, galleries, boutiques and more.
Your tour on Day 5 is all about wine! Head to multi-award-winning Mandoon Estate. Its doors are open and ready for you to walk in and start enjoying the bounty of their fields. You’ll notice right away that they take their profession very seriously, where wine is not only a drink but a way of life. They study it, live it, think it, feel it and breathe it with a passion that’s second to none. Afterward, you’ll have a chance to get up close and personal with some of Australia's strange and unusual wildlife at Caversham Wildlife Park.
Back in Perth, why not spend your day of leisure exploring the city at your own pace? You can marvel at the historic Swan Bells, take in Perth Museum and Art Gallery or try your luck at the casino at Crown Perth. Or, you can head to nearby Rottnest Island (“Rotto” to the locals”), a picturesque isle that’s teeming with vibrant marine life and friendly faces. Coastal tide pools and blue-green bays on the island offer ideal spots for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
What we love:
• The pinnacles at Nambung National Park are said to be approximately 25,000 years old and formed by shell deposits from receding sea water.
• Similar in style to snowboarding, sandboarding is ideal for adrenaline seekers.
• At Elizabeth Quay, you’ll find amazing art including colorful mosaics and structures like the “Spanda,” a 95-foot (29-meter) sculpture that represents the rippling waters of the Swan River.
• If you’re a wine lover, a cellar door experience is the way to go. The small and intimate setting gives the staff — and oftentimes the winemakers themselves — a chance to offer visitors their knowledge along with samples of wine.
• Perth abounds with cuisine of all types, from fresh-caught seafood and organic vegetables to Asian-inspired street food.
