Take in the Stunning Views & Wine of the Western Cape

Gather up your loved ones & head to Cape Town for an exciting cable-car ride to the top of a mountain & delectable tastings at 2 local wineries.

About Your Trip

Venture to the captivating port city of Cape Town for thrills and delights for the whole family in South Africa’s Western Cape. Here, you’ll ride a cable car to the top of Table Mountain and savor wine tastings during a tour of one of the country’s premier wine-producing regions. Be sure to pack your camera so you can capture every moment!

Your adventure begins with a city tour to see notable attractions like the colorful Bo-Kaap historic neighborhood. At Table Mountain, take an exhilarating cable-car ride to the top, where you’ll marvel at the magnificent vista of city and coast. The best part? The cable car rotates, so you’ll get 360-degree views as you make your way to the 3,500-foot (1,067-meter) summit.

The next day, wine enthusiasts will adore a tour of the Cape Winelands, a countryside boasting majestic mountain ranges, scenic passes, historic wine estates and distinctive Cape Dutch homesteads. Along the way, you’ll stop in Franschhoek — known as the “food and wine capital of South Africa” — and Stellenbosch, the heart of the winelands. While exploring these cities, you’ll also visit 2 local wineries. Their doors are open and ready for you to walk in and start enjoying the bounty of their fields. You’ll notice right away that they take their profession very seriously, where wine is not only a drink but a way of life — these winemakers study it, live it, think it, feel it and breathe it with a passion that’s second to none. Plus, you’ll be treated to a wine tasting at each!

What we love:
• During free time, why not visit popular Victoria & Albert Waterfront (commonly called V&A Waterfront)? This oceanside complex sees more than 20 million visitors a year and has everything you’d want — restaurants, retail outlets, museums, a farmer’s market, an aquarium, and historical landmarks such as the 1882 Clock Tower and SAS Somerset vessel.
• Popular Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has been thrilling users since 1929 and celebrates its 90th birthday in October of 2019. Don’t worry — it’s been updated a few times since and now boasts ultra-modern, rotating cable cars for stunning panoramic views.
• If you’re a wine lover, a cellar door experience is the way to go. The small and intimate setting gives the staff — and oftentimes the winemakers themselves — a chance to offer visitors their knowledge along with samples of wine.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

This trip will close by December 20.

Cape Town is one of the most scenic and culturally diverse cities in South Africa. From the plateau crest of Table Mountain — the stirring backdrop to the Cape Town skyline — to the bustling harbor along the Cape Peninsula’s Atlantic seashore, this capital of the Western Cape Province has it all.

The food scene is vibrant and thriving, one that reflects Cape Town’s multicultural make up. Influences range from Dutch, Indian and Cape Malay to Italian, Japanese and Moroccan. The city’s oceanside location is perfect for seafood-inspired cuisine, especially pickled fish, prawns and mussels. The area is also home to world-class wine producers, some with vineyard grapes dating back to the 1600s. Wine routes such as Stellenbosch and Franschhoek offer tourists an easy way to explore the history of the South African Winelands.
