Green Island is one of the 600 islands in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and part of the traditional sea country of the Guru-Gulu Gungandji Aboriginal people — they call it Wunyami. Green Island is easily accessible by watercraft from the mainland city of Cairns, making it a popular destination for day visitors. Even though there are no fresh water sources other than rain, the island features the only rainforest of all the Great Barrier Reef islands.

Day 1

Check into the Pacific Hotel Cairns at any time after 2 p.m.
1-5 p.m.: Visit the welcome table in the hotel lobby.
7:30 p.m.: Churrasco-style welcome dinner with 2 complimentary drinks at the hotel.
Overnight at Pacific Hotel Cairns.

Day 2

6:30-9:30 a.m.: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
11 a.m.: Check out of the hotel.
12:30-2 p.m.: Walk from the hotel to the Reef Fleet Terminal (a 3-minute walk). Board the ferry and transfer to Green Island.
Check into Green Island Resort at any time after 2 p.m.
The rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 3

7-10:30 a.m.: Buffet breakfast at the resort.
11:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Full-day Great Barrier Reef excursion; includes morning and afternoon tea, hot-and-cold buffet lunch, snacks (return trip only), EMC, snorkeling equipment, buoyancy vests, round-trip catamaran transfer and gratuities.
• 11:15 a.m.: Depart from the hotel. Board a catamaran for your cruise to the stable activity platform located at the outside edge of the Great Barrier Reef.
• Arrive at the activity platform for 3 hours of fun.
• Enjoy snorkeling and swimming or just relaxing on the sundeck. You may also visit the underwater observatory for an informative presentation and guided eco talk about the ecology of the reef. Or, embark on a cruise in a semi-submersible to observe coral and other marine life.
• 4:30 p.m.: Return to the resort by catamaran.

Day 4

7-10 a.m.: Buffet breakfast at the resort.
A day at your leisure. We suggest you enjoy some of the complimentary activities at the resort, including glass-bottom boat tours, nature or rainforest walks and fish-feeding demonstrations. The resort also offers complimentary use of snorkeling equipment and gear for most non-motorized water sports, including kayaking, windsurfing and playing beach volleyball.
7 p.m.: Indulge in a 3-course farewell dinner at the resort’s Emeralds Restaurant & Bar.

Day 5

Check out of the resort by 10 a.m.

By booking this DreamTrip I understand that the hotel may request a credit card upon check-in. The hotel may request the credit card in order to: a) place a monetary hold of US$50-200; or b) hold for incidental, security or other charges. Full-day Great Barrier Reef excursion:
• Please note: Guests should be able to swim in order to go snorkeling.
• This daytrip includes the use of snorkeling equipment and buoyancy vests.
• Activities on the platform include a reef education presentation, a semi-submersible cruise and a guided ecological talk at the underwater observatory.
• We suggest that you bring a sun hat and sunscreen, lace-up shoes or sandals that can get wet, plus a swimsuit, towel and change of clothes.
• An extra T-shirt to wear under the buoyancy vest is also recommended.

Boat transfers:
• Round-trip boat transfers are included between Cairns and Green Island.
• The transfer time is approximately 50 minutes each way.
• Boats depart from Green Island daily at 9:45 a.m., noon, 2:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., so please book your departure flight accordingly.

Cancellation Policy*: If you cancel 46 days or more prior to your trip, you’ll get a full refund. If you cancel within 45 days of your trip, your trip will not be refunded.

*This cancellation policy is subject to rules and regulations in applicable jurisdictions in which our travel supplier is based. Therefore, in the event of conflict between the cancellation policy displayed here and cancellation terms in supplier booking terms, the provisions of the booking terms will prevail.

Name Change Policy: If you change any name(s) on your booking 30 days or more before the start date of your trip, you’ll be charged a fee of US$50 per name change. Name changes are not permitted within 30 days of the start date of your trip.

Members can’t combine DreamTrips Points. Your membership level determines the maximum amount of DreamTrips Points you can use. If you have more than 50 Rovia Bucks, you can apply them in the checkout process.

In the unfortunate event that an activity or excursion is no longer available, we will substitute a similar activity of equal or greater value.

It’s important to double check that you have all the identification and other documentation required by the specific country you’re traveling to. In many countries, passports and visas must be valid for 6 months or longer after the trip end date. If you are unable to obtain the required identification and other documentation, the Cancellation Policy for this DreamTrip will apply.
