A Taste of Coastal Croatia

Discover Croatia’s cuisine, culture and history in the island town of Vela Luka and the historic city of Dubrovnik.

About Your Trip

Immerse yourself in Croatia’s fascinating culture and savor some of the country’s best cuisine on this DreamTrip to Korcula. Taste local delicacies, stroll the ancient streets of Vela Luka and discover the city’s unique customs, traditions and history. Visit Etno kuca Barilo, a folk museum featuring artifacts that epitomize the heritage of local peasant families. A visit to Vela Luka’s olive oil museum, lunch at a Korcula restaurant and a wine tasting complete your full-day tour, then return to the comfort of your accommodations at Hotel Korkyra. The next day sees you in scenic Dubrovnik for a full-day tour of its famed Old Town, surrounded by nearly 1.5 miles (2 kilometers) of medieval stone walls, turrets and towers from the 16th century.

What we love:
• The seaside city of Dubrovnik, known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” was named a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.
• Many believe that Korcula — rather than Venice — is the birthplace of Marco Polo, one of the greatest explorers and merchant travelers in history. This has yet to be proven, but serves as an interesting topic of conversation and debate.
• Day 2 of your stay features a walking tour of a Dalmatian garden, inviting you to taste homemade local products throughout the morning in Vela Luka.
• Etno kuca Barilo showcases approximately 3,000 objects once used in the everyday lives of families in Korcula, including everything from cookware, pottery and agricultural tools to portraits, handmade clothing and furniture.

Check out this DreamTrip on Facebook.

This trip will close by October 31.

Destination

Ocean air breezes through charming locales on the Croatian isle of Korcula. Hill-framed inlets give way to welcoming, walkable villages. Although ancient legends claim Antenor, a mythological Trojan hero, founded the island of Korcula, archaeologists have discovered inhabitants of the region date back to the Neolithic era. Medieval-era buildings stand proudly, representing the extensive history of the town as a fortified village and its cultural love of stonemasonry. A featured attraction of the island is St. Mark’s Cathedral, an impressive Gothic structure built in the late 13th century. Present-day Korcula is a popular tourist attraction for Croatian vacationers as well as travelers from all over Europe.
